About Advanced & Beginning Arts & Crafts: Both fulfill the entrance requirements for the Cal State and UC schools & follow the California State Standards for Visual Arts. It is a yearlong class that introduces students to the elements of art and principles of design. Students learn how to critique their artworks,use basic art vocabulary,also culture and history. Students complete a wide variety of challenging hands-on projects such as painting, weaving, macreme, drawing, graphic design, collage, mask-making, mosaic and paper mache.
About the Teacher:Teaching high school since 1989. This is my 11th year at Yucaipa High. Credentials in Art, Multiple Subject & Social Studies.
BA Degree from CSU Fullerton, credentials from University of Redlands.
First job in education:acting Assistant Dean of Students at Pitzer College, Claremont.  I"m a 4th generation teacher. My family includes a HS Administrator, School Board President, two football coaches & two CTA state reps. I graduated from Big Bear High, where  I skied on the race team, was a cheerleader & had great teachers who still inspire me.
 At YHS, my activities include: GATE committee, Art Club, Site Council, PTSO, Diversity Council, Dance Team,FIDM fashion club,Theatre Set & Prop design, producing YHS Art Shows and I've attempted to play Co-ed Volleyball at lunch.
